Description:
Hircine, the hunter, is probably best known as the father of all Were
creatures or 'manbeasts'. His sphere is the hunt, the sport of Daedra, the
sacrifice of mortals. Every once in a while, a ritual hunt is performed in
the realm of Tamriel that is known as the Bloodmoon Prophecy. During this
hunt, mortals are hunted by Hircine's minions - mostly Werewolves - and
those that are unlucky enough to survive the ordeal then face the Prince himself.
Although hunting mortals certainly does not qualify him as a particularly
benevolent Prince, Hircine can not be counted as one of the evil Daedra. The
scope of his own hunts is limited, and hunting in and of itself is an activity
many mortals enjoy just as much as the Prince himself.
History:
Hircine has appeared again and again in the history of Tamriel. According to
nordic accounts and legends, Hircine's Bloodmoon ritual takes place once each
era, that is about once in a thousand years. During the last ritual of this
kind, Hircine picked the player character as prey and lost the fight - perhaps
for the first time ever.
The player could also summon Hircine in Daggerfall on his summoning day.
Apart from that, he could be summoned on any day in many of High Rock's
witch covens, which are known for having strong ties with the Hunter.
